My mom really likes my work. Dad is tepid at best. Some of my essays and articles have been published by The Toast, Babble.com, CNN, National Public Radio, The Huffington Post, and The Washington Post. Once upon a time, I wrote a column for McSweeney’s about raising my toddlers in a college dorm.
I received my M.A. in Writing from Johns Hopkins University a few years after earning a B.A. in American Studies from the University of Virginia. American Studies is where I learned to think critically about race and culture. Hopkins is where I learned to put it all down on paper.
These days I live in Charlottesville, Virginia, with my hot professor-husband, Paul, and our two kids, Eliot and Christopher. Jesus and our portable dishwasher keep us grounded.
